Useful Resources - Books

I was asked, several times in fact, as to what types of books and materials I use while conducting research for my own books. Well, aside from what I’ve learned in forty plus years, and what I’ve gleaned from websites, blogs, forums, etc., I’ve also used some of the resources noted below. The resources listed below also are the foundation for my personal library.

I’ve broken these all down into Non-Fiction, Fiction, and Apps. Since, believe it or not, everything posted on the internet isn’t always true, I tend to not trust a potential source unless I can find another source, or two or three, that states a similar set of information, thus confirming the material I am looking to use... it’s called validating your information and is integral to being a good author. Oooorrrrr they could all by lying... you never know. This is why there are multiple books on the same topic. Don't get me started on the number of articles I've saved off as PDF files, printed, and placed in 3-ring binders!

For those of you thinking that you'll get around to a library at some point, sometime, some day, you probably don't want to wait too long. You never know if and when something is going to happen. You should always be expanding your library!

Also, in my opinion, anything you purchase electronically (Kindle, Nook, reader, iBooks, etc.) should, at a minimum, be reviewed electronically, and, if it passes the smell test, should also be procured in paperback.  If the resource is a valuable enough and could potentially be lent out to family, friends, and neighbors, you should procure multiple copies so you always have one on hand. There, I said it. Phew!

Cost savings can be had on Amazon and other sites by purchasing used copies. There are also used book stores where you might find a copy of what you're looking for. It is illegal to borrow books from the library and make photocopies of the text! Do not do this!

Oh, and lest I forget, not everything in here deals with preparedness. SURPRISE! Some of these titles are just pleasure reading. I personally recommend an assortment of numerous genres and varieties. This will help to break up the monotony post-Schumer hitting the fan.

So without any further ado, here’s what’s in my fiction, non-fiction, and app library.

NOTE: Anything in BOLD has been added since the page was originally written.
