Just a Small Gathering, Volume I
Published in September of 2013, This cooking and entertainment book was the catalyst that started the Foreign & Domestic series. The first half of the book attempts to relieve hosts fears by providing humor related to the authors own mistakes. The second half of the book contains 12 complete menus (apps, soups/salads, main dish, dessert etc.). Each menu also contains an appropriate wine pairing.
The Home-Scale Orchard: A Practical, Research-Based Field Guide
Published in August 2026, The Home-Scale Orchard non-fiction work began taking shape over the course of writing the non-fiction Preparing to Prepare piece. The information contained within that book became the source material for my first AI assisted published work. Having always been drawn to trees, orchards, and self-sufficiency it seemed inevitable that I’d write this book. Given the new technological advances in the form of AI has allowed my to generate this work far faster than anticipated. Knowing that AI was going to be involved in the writing process gave me the time needed to craft a robust prompt that included my original source material that focused on the singular topic of implementing orchards in every USDA cold hardiness zone.
Preparing to Prepare: A General Guide to Self-Sufficiency and Preparedness
Published in January of 2021, the Preparing to Prepare non-fiction work began taking shape in written form around the same time as the non-fiction Home Remedies piece. The information contained within this work, though, has been rumbling around in my head for ages. What makes my work unique, I think, is that it allows readers to determine what they want to prepare for (from weather to societal collapse) and estimate how long that disruption to their lives might last (< 1 week, > 1 week, < 1 month, or > 1 month).
Home Remedies, Poultices, Salves, & Tinctures
Published in November of 2020, this book began as an off-shoot of my 5-part fictional series (Foreign & Domestic), particularly the last two books in the series. I kept finding myself trying to answer the same questions regarding medicine in a Pre-Industrial Revolution type of setting. I was lucky enough to be part of a forum where the members sent me recipes directly or pointed me to additional information on the site. After that it was hours upon hours of research trying to find everything I was looking for.
The Practical Water Harvesting Guide
Published in August 2026, The Practical Water Harvesting Guide non-fiction work began taking shape over the course of writing the non-fiction Preparing to Prepare piece. The information contained within that book became the source material for my second AI assisted published work. Preparedness and self-sufficiency are paramount, not only, in in my life but also in the lives of my immediate and extended family and friends. Having access to water is only part one of a very large complicated calculus. This guide walks you through the process of solving the big questions regarding harvesting, storing, and filtration but also walks you through the minutia of the details no one ever considers.
